Parameter estimation of transient signal in non-Gaussian noise

In this paper, an optimal estimator based on minimum-variance polynomial approximation is presented, which is capable of estimating the problem parameters of a transient signal in noise whose PDF may not be Gaussian. Simulation results are provided for various symmetric unimodal noise densities.
