A comparative study of architectures for deflection routing

Abhijit K. Choudhury · 2003

The delay-throughput performance of deflection routing on various regular networks has been studied by a number of researchers. The effect of topological features of a network on the performance of deflection routing is discussed. The key structural features that affect the performance are discussed using a few popular two-connected regular networks like the Manhattan street network, the shuffle exchange network and the ShuffleNet as examples. A new class of regular architectures, double shuffle networks, with some interesting properties is introduced. The performance of all the regular networks is studied under the uniform traffic model, with and without output buffers, in an effort to understand how the various structural properties affect the performance.>
