A general purpose microcode assembler

A general purpose microcode assembler, called MICA, for machines using bit-slice microcprocessors is presented in this paper. It is a powerful assembler and is easy to use. It provides some unique mechanisms for error detection, next address generation, parity bit generation, instruction overlay, and insertion of default values of unspecified fields. It is being used in a wide variety of projects in the Bell Laboratories.
