Plan Repair in Single-Agent and Multi-Agent Systems
R.P.J. Van der Krogt · Research Repository (Delft University of Technology) · 2005
This thesis examines the dynamic nature of transportation problems and how the planning module of a freight transportation system can automatically deal with this. Focus is on plan repair in a multi-agent context. The research first studies existing techniques for planning in static and dynamic worlds, either for single-agent or multi-agent environments. It next discusses how the Action Resource Framework (ARF) language can be used for modeling multi-agent plan recovery problems. The single-agent recovery problem is then described, along with techniques based upon the ARF that an agent may use to address the problem. These techniques are then extended to the case of multiple agents. Experimental results are presented, along with both a comparison with existing single-agent plan repair techniques as well as the results of techniques on multi-agent plan recovery problems. The thesis concludes with recommendations for future work.
