Somare development: a failure and a success

Colin McClure · 2005

This paper examines two software development projects. The major differences between the two lie in the utility of software engineering techniques and project organization. Their case histories point out that ignoring the principles of software engineering can increase the risk of project failure. They also point out that the attitude of a project team toward a project can affect its outcome. Besides understanding the technical principles of software development, we must understand and plan for the human aspects, As project managers, we must learn to "sell" a project to its development team as well as to its user.
