Kazuhiko Kato, Tomohiro Yamamoto, T. Hirota, M. Mizuyama · 2006
At the beginning of 2005, we brought a Linux based mobile phone to the Japanese market. We have been putting extensive efforts modifying Linux and the software above it, to meet the requirements of our main stream mobile phone product. The efforts cover various aspects including memory footprint size, stability, boot time, power consumption, user response and more. This paper presents some of those efforts we have made and addresses further challenges expected on Linux for mobile devices.
