Genetic algorithm for codebook design in vectorquantisation

A genetic algorithm (GA) as a modern search/optimisation technique is introduced to codebook design in vector quantisation. It is examined for the vector space of DCT coefficients and compared with the fuzzy-c-mean (FCM) and the LBG algorithm.
