Corrosion Impact Factor on the Rise

John R. Scully · CORROSION · 2013

Greetings, corrosion community,We at Corrosion understand submitting authors' desires to publish high-quality papers in journals with respectable impact factors. We understand that there is ever-increasing pressure in the scientific and engineering communities to demonstrate the impact of research and engineering both internally and externally. There are several keys to high impact factors in addition to intrinsic paper quality. Certainly, the ability to search and find papers using multiple search engines, as well as the rapid assignment of a DOI and placement online as quickly as possible after papers are accepted are critical factors. The latter two measures enable readers to search, find, and cite papers earlier in the “citation lifetime” of a paper.Corrosion is excited to announce that data on the impact factor (IF) for 2012 have been reported. The current Impact Factor for Corrosion is 1.772, up 23% compared to last year, and up 155% compared to 2007. For the first time, Corrosion is in the top 10 journals within the “Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering” category as reported by the Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Reports (JCR) site. Notably, Corrosion is above Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, Philosophical Magazine, as well as Materials and Corrosion. Also, the following additional data have been reported regarding the current state of the journal according to the Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Reports site:I have provided the following list of definitions to help readers understand what these metrics mean.I am particularly proud of our citation half-life. We strive to seek and publish substantial papers; the half life can be interpreted to mean that Corrosion papers are of long-lasting value and not just limited, time-sensitive reports on work with rapid expirations. We are pleased to say that Corrosion is continuing to make great strides in remaining at the forefront of current trends in the scientific publishing world. Corrosion's online catalog includes papers published after 1960. Another recent advancement is Corrosion's new mobile site which was launched mid-January and will provide instant access to anyone, anywhere.Corrosion is steered by an internationally recognized technical editorial board and first-rate staff, who will guide you through the publication process while maintaining a high standard of quality for accepted papers. Notably, ten out of ten award-winning papers recently selected by the NACE Awards Committee went to authors who published their research in Corrosion.Corrosion welcomes you to be a part of the 69 years of milestones in the corrosion community and to receive worldwide recognition for your research. Please visit http://corrosionjournal.org for more information.Best Regards,Dr. John R.
