A queueing analysis of slotted ALOHA systems
X.X. Yao, Ou Yang · 2002
Studies the queueing performance of a slotted ALOHA system consisting of M stations, each of which with an infinite buffer. Unlike the traditional approach of directly studying the queueing dependency among the stations, the authors model each station as an independent M/G/1 queue in which the first packet of a busy period receives an exceptional service. Interaction with other queues in the system is captured and accounted for in the packet service times. The Laplace Stieljes transform of the response time is obtained from which delay throughput performance can be evaluated. Simulations on various systems are run to test the assumptions and approximations.>
