The present paper aims to discuss the modern techniques used in the management of the university system of learning and assessment processes. Firstly, we presented the utility, the characteristics and the tendencies of up-to-date educational systems. Then we restricted the field to the educational software whose purpose is to create specific competences within a specified learning domain. Our intention was to refer particularly to a given stage in the learning process namely, the formative evaluation. Hence, it can be said that assessment is a factor which triggers transformation within pedagogical practice. The main stages of the formative or continuous assessment process which are to be presented are the definition of the expectations; modalities and criteria of realizing the formative assessment; elaboration of the materials necessary for the assessment; the validation of the elaborated materials; the selection of the participants; participants validation; organizing and conducting the assessment; documents archiving; analyzing the process of assessment; and improving on the assessment. All of these stages must follow in turn and none of them should be skipped. There are inputs and outputs for each of the presented stages of the process. These stages of the formative evaluation, the corresponding scheme and interpretation thereof are based on the study’s emic perspective. Key words: Numerical calculation, graphic generator, web service, research.
