A power management controller circuit with a switched-capacitor mode down-regulator and a battery charger block for semi-active radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags was proposed and fabricated. The major achievement of the proposed switched-capacitor mode down- regulator and battery charger block is providing a low standby current internal voltage supply circuit and self-controlled thin film battery charger by detecting a voltage level generated using received RF power. The area of fabricated chip is about 360,000 square μm, and standby current is approximately 1.3 μA.
