Evolution of intelligence in switched networks

H.A. Bauer, J.Z. Jacoby, E.G. Sable, J.B. Sharpless · International Symposium on Switching · 2005

With the introduction of the Integrated Services Digital Net work (ISDN), Signalling System No. 7 and service-independent Intelligent Network (IN) capabilities in switches and other network entities, such as databases, many opportunities have emerged for PIT Administrations to promote new telecommunications services. This paper addresses how PYT Administrations' existing public switched telephone networks can be evolved to create opportunities for Intelligent Networks and their services. Key challenges relating to deployment, architecture, and customer support of Intelligent Networks and their services will be covered.
