Changes in aortic medial elastic structure at different sites in the primates Erythrocebus patas, Macaca irus and Callithrix jacchus

C. L. Berry, Jocelyn Germain · Laboratory Animals · 1973

There is a progressive reduction in the number of lamellar units in the aortic media in these primates as the distance from the aortic root increases. The structure of the media is similar in many primates and this suggests that they may prove suitable animals in which to study mechanical aspects of atherogenesis.
