Analysis of error and time behavior of the IEEE 802.15.4 PHY-layer in an industrial environment

Andreas Robert Vedral, Joerg F. Wollert · 2006

In this analysis a practical characterization of a transmission channel was performed based on the Gilbert-Elliott model (GE). The model's parameters were determined by the Baum-Welch algorithm and evaluated with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov hypothesis test. In this connection the burst error density P(m,n) was chosen as the main factor to characterize the channel. In the measurements a standard transceiver of the type MC 13192 (manufacturer: Freescale Semiconductor) compliant to the IEEE 802.15.4 PHY was used. Stationary as well as mobile measurements were performed in the environment of an industrial high rack warehouse.
