This paper presents a protocol for the advertising via wireless networks of locally available resources. The new protocol, "Yo G-Money!" utilizes a combination of GPS, LEO satellites, and multicast to advertise specific location-dependent available resources. Benefits of this protocol include speed of use (both by service providers and users wishing to see the service listing), inclusion of ability to charge service advertisers appropriately, and low computing and power requirements for service providers and users. Additionally, the service listing protocol can be completed using only wireless communications. Mobile users can quickly discover local available resources and services. Service providers can advertise their services to all people who are in the area and interested in those services. Our service listing protocol does not require high power or Web connectivity for the mobile users, making it quite appropriate for use by low-power devices such as PDA, laptop computers, and other handheld devices. Resources that could be advertised include computing resources such as currently unused processor cycles, disk space, printer/facsimile availability, and access to the greater Internet for purposes such as FTP, telnet, and other World Wide Web uses. Noncomputing related location-specific resources such as nearby restaurant (and other business) listings, transportation information, and area traffic reports would be logical additions to local resource information listings.
