A Framework for Extending Online Assessment

Web-services are a powerful new standard that can enable a remarkable synergy of existing tools and research. Commercial Learning Management Systems (EMS) generally do not support assessment beyond the first two levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. Web services enable recovery of the investment in complex evaluators by making the evaluators available to a community of users. In this paper, we present the generic design of Web services capable of handling complex evaluation, and illustrate the flexibility of this approach.
