Single-chip ZigBee for indoor mobile telemetry
Mark Norris · 2005
Wireless telemetry products have been available for many years, ranging from industrial control to security, systems and domestic applications. Such products are typically based on proprietary designs operating in either licensed or licence-free radio bands. Collaborative work in recent years has led to the birth of a new standard for wireless telemetry systems, using an ad-hoc mesh networking protocol called ZigBee. The signalling protocol is optimised for adaptive network control, where nodes come and go from the mesh. Thus the network is resilient to link interruptions and supports self-configuration and self-repair. This paper describes an experimental telemetry tracking and control system, based on a semi-static ZigBee network which is used to communicate and track mobile nodes. (6 pages)
