Priority access for hybrid hando .wireless systems

Huan Chen, Chih-Chuan Cheng · 2005

In this research, we considered the priority preferential treatment in a wireless system for a hybrid handoff system in the presence of three priority call types: new call, soft handoff and hard handoff calls. We formulate the call admission control problem (CAC) as the Markov decision process (MDP) optimization problem. A stationary optimal CAC policy is determined by solving the associated linear programming problem. The derived policy can choose actions of accepting or rejecting different types of calls, depending on the traffic condition and QoS metrics. The goal for our work is to maximize the average weighted system reward without a constraint imposed on the dropping probability. The performance in terms of weighted system utilization is analyzed through the use of event driven simulation (EDS) and the numerical results are compared with the complete sharing scheme.
