Before training or job aids can be designed, a thorough understanding of the task and task environment are needed. This paper summarizes a three-stage cognitive task analysis approach that is being used to model radar analysis experts. Details of the first stage of analysis and the initial model are included, as well as some conclusions about training and aiding.>
