A MIXED BOUNDARY-VALUE PROBLEM OF THERMOELASTICITY FOR A HALF-SPACE

R. K. Mahalanabis · The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics · 1967

The temperature and the associated displacements and stresses have been evaluated in a half-space when the temperature is prescribed over a circular portion of its free surface, the remainder radiating in accordance with Newton's law. It is shown that in certain cases a harmonic function satisfying such boundary conditions exists only if its prescribed values satisfy certain conditions.
