A VLSI implementable versatile electronic neuron and its applications

A VLSI implementable design of an electronic neuron is proposed. The most important feature of this neuron design is its versatility for use in many applications. The synapse strengths in this neuron have provision for real time programming and hence the neural network built can be truly adaptive. In this paper the application of this neuron for feature extraction and character recognition have been described.
