A novel justification of the disjunctive combination rule

Hongyan Sun, M. Farooq · 2003

In this paper, a novel justification of the disjunctive combination rule for multiple independent sources of information based on the redefined combination-mapping rule of multiple multi-valued mappings in the product space of multiple independent sources of information is being proposed. The combination rule reveals a type a/ logical inference in the human judgment, that is, the OR rule. It avercomes the shortcoming of the Dempster-Shafer Z combination rule with the AND rule, especially, the one that is counterintuitive, and provides a more plausible judgment than the Dempster-Shafer S combination rule over the elements that are judged by different sources af information.
