A photo verification technique using embedded GPS data for mounting in programmable portable phone terminals

Atsushi Katayama, Ryo Kitahara, Harumi Kawamura, Hideki Koike · 2009

A photograph authenticity technique is developed for mounting in programmable telephone terminals housing a camera, clock, and GPS. The technique uses fragile digital watermarking to embed original photos with the time the photo was taken and the shooting location. By making it possible to prove precisely when and where evidentiary photos were taken, it enables authenticity verification of traffic accident photos, collateral property photos, alibi photos and the like.
