Recommendations for Voting System Event Log Contents and Semantics

Data recorded in the event logs of currently deployed electronic voting systems are insucient to diagnose problems ranging from ballot design to user interface errors which may occur in voting systems. In the following work, we propose several types of voter interaction information which could be included in voting system event logs and highlight several policy decisions that must be considered before nalizing data format requirements.
