GEOPHYSICS AND CONGRESS

George P. Miller · Geophysics · 1961

Abstract I approach the task of addressing this distinguished group of Geophysicists with some trepidation. I am a layman, and I do not want to impart in any way that what I say can be taken in a technical sense. I salute you and I honor you and respect you for the great contribution you have made in the field of science. Thinking people in the world are now coming to know that, if we are going to survive on this planet, we must study it and know it. We must go into the air above, the depths of the ocean, and probe beneath the Earth's crust to find her locked-in secrets.
