The authors point out that space-varying cellular neural networks (CNNs) are characterized by nearest-neighbor interconnections represented by a cell-dependent connectivity matrix A/sub ij/. This biologically inspired architecture has many potential applications. Here, space-varying CNNs are used to design a cellular associative memory.>
