CODSIM-a simulation environment for spreading codes

K.H.A. Karkkainen · 2002

An interactive software for analytical simulation of spreading codes used in direct-sequence (DS) code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems is introduced. The spreading code simulation (CODSIM) environment also supports the design of radar waveforms. It generates the most commonly used binary pseudo-noise (PN) sequence families of a large range of periods. Gold, Kasami, maximum length and nonlinear feedforward logic (NLFFL) sequences ore included, in addition to Kronecker and combination sequences of arbitrary components. Barker and Golay complementary sequences are included for radar applications. CODSIM also calculates a number of correlation and ambiguity functions, power spectrum density envelopes, run distribution histograms of binary symbols and linear complexity profiles, in addition to several merit factors and performance measures to characterize the quality of the spreading code design. Calculation of correlation functions is speeded up by the use of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) method. CODSIM runs on computers that are compatible with PRO-MaTLAB/sup TM/.>
