From the physics of piano strings to digital waveguides

A new model for transverse piano string vibration, secondorder in time, which models frequency-dependent loss and dispersion effects is presented here. It is then shown how a digital waveguide structure may be related directly to this model. Finally, the model parameters are fit to experimental data from a grand piano.
