Service-oriented development has gained much attentionin recent years with the advent of technologiessuch as Web Services, .NET, and Jini. Standards forspecifying, publishing, and delivering services has enabledapproaches for specifying applications that canintegrate and bind at run-time with services that meetapplication requirements. Jini is a service-based frameworkthat was originally developed to support integrationof devices as services. Web services are services thatare delivered over the World Wide Web using WSDL as adescriptor and SOAP as the delivery mechanism. In thispaper, we describe a wrapping technique that facilitatesthe integration of web services into Jini service applicationson-the-fly. As a result, an application can take advantageof run-time service lookup facilities provided byJini without needing a priori knowledge of the web servicesit eventually uses.
