Most-significant-digit-first and on-line arithmetic approaches for the design of recursive filters

This paper presents most-significant-digit-first (MSDF) and on-line arithmetic approaches in the design of secondorder recursive filters. The approaches are characterized by high rate, modular design with small interconnection requirements, and clock period independent of word precision.
