This paper makes a mathematical analysis of a novel quantum series resonant inverter. Differential equations derived from all of the operation modes are generalized. Furthermore, through utilizing the method of equivalent resonant tank, we can simplify the generalized differential equations. The simplified model can help us have a thorough understanding of the operation of the inverter and make a more easy designing of the controller. Through using dual loop control technique, we can completely overcome the quantized output level which is inherent in the quantum converter. Thus the output voltage is continuous and the current ripple is very small. The experiment finds that this kind of quantum series converter has better characteristics than conventional ones.
