Decisionmaking using coarse grain concurrency and localized temporal reasoning

Iris Cox Hayslip · 2003

A hybrid application-oriented architecture is described for planning decisions in a complex dynamic environment utilizing coupled systems, coarse grain concurrency, multiple knowledge representations and an architecture wherein specific reasoning about time is localized to a special module. Planning at different levels of competence is performed by separate modules operating concurrently. Consideration is given to two separate aspects of multilevel decision-making: the depth and detail afforded by the actual form of the data and knowledge structures, and the depth and detail afforded by the complexity and thoroughness of the planning procedures which utilize the structures.>
