Semantic Annotation Gap: Where to put Responsibility?

The dynamic growth of multimedia production and multimedia enabling devices increase a need for a way that can store, manage, access and share the multimedia data. The explosion of digital media content is driving the need for more effective solutions for annotation, managing and effective searching large repositories of video to fulfill the demand of viewers. Of all media types only the video is more interesting and can convey the information in a better way because it is not only the collection of still images, but also a complex temporal medium having high level semantic ideas. Today the viewers are interested for a more personalized way of viewing the videos rather than browsing linear and non-linear videos. Instead of predefined subjects, the viewers are comfortable to describe their own interest for the video
