A study of the relationship between the influencing factors on the performance of http transactions

E. Casilan, José Manuel Bermúdez Cano, Francisco Sandoval · 2003

This work analyses the impact of the length and Round Trip Time (RTT) of TCP connections on the performance of Web connections. In particular the study focuses on the dependence of the losses and the bandwidth required by HTTP connections with the number of transmitted packets and the RTT. The study is based on a wide set of actual traces taken from a transoceanic link between Japan and USA. Aiming at examining the evolution of Internet during the last two years the paper compares the results for traces taken during the same months in 2001 and 2002.
