ObjectPlaces: An Environment for Situated Multi-Agent Systems

Kurt Schelfthout, Tom Holvoet · 2004

Situated agents are agents that live in an environment. Since such agents typically use the environment extensively, for example as a common memory, or for coordination, it is interesting to develop middleware support for agent environments. This middleware should offer a set of principles and primitives with which an environment can be built, and can be manipulated by the agents. This paper defines a set of requirements such an environment should fulfill, and goes on to describe a middleware system, called ObjectPlaces that is suited to the requirements.
