Elimination of constant-input limit cycles in passive lattice digital filters

Paulo S. R. Diniz · IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems · 1988

It is known that passive cascaded lattice digital-filter structures are free of zero-input and overflow limit cycles. The author shows that constant-input limit cycles can also be eliminated in these structures if the way input data is inserted into the network is changed. Evidently, with the change in vector B, the design equations of the output vector are modified. In addition, the scaling factor and finite-wordlength characteristics of the original lattice structure and the modified lattice structure are different. The procedure outlined can also be applied to other types of passive lattice structures.>
