MEMS-based TWT development

The proposed MEMS- based, high frequency, miniature, power efficient TWTAs are ideal microwave power amplifiers for space missions using micro-satellite clusters, where a host of in-space and terrestrial communication link technologies are required. Since both commercial and military satellites are spectrum challenged, utilizing available higher frequency bands is likely in the near future. These TWTs are also ideal amplifiers to integrate into network-centric military platforms. The reduced size and weight make these high frequency amplifiers ideal for communication transmitters used to network diverse and widespread command posts, sensors and shooters.
