An effective feature extraction algorithm for the recognition of facial expressions

An improved algorithm is presented for extracting feature amounts from a facial area and constructing knowledge to recognize facial expressions. The recognition results based on the expert system is also described. From a computer simulation using 9040 frames, more than 86% recognition accuracy was achieved.
