A new method of improving furnace temperature control

W James · Journal of Scientific Instruments · 1954

A modified bridge circuit, using an indirectly-heated thermistor, is described which may be used either to reduce the temperature differential of a resistance-thermometer, on-off type temperature controller, or to convert such a controller for time-cycle proportional operation. The instrument has been used to control the temperature of a laboratory furnace to better than ± ¼° C for periods of several hours.
