More than One Character Table? Yes!
Ian J. McNaught · Journal of Chemical Education · 1997
Contrary to common belief it is possible for a point group to have more than one acceptable character table. The uniqueness of a character table is a consequence of the great orthogonality theorem. Because this theorem does not apply to infinite point groups it means that these groups do not necessarily have a unique character table. Four acceptable character table for the point group D infinite h are presented and discussed.
