From Electron Mobility to Logical Structure: A View of Integrated Circuits
Wesley A. Clark · ACM Computing Surveys · 1980
The microprocessor's rapid development and its appearance in many Dew theaters of application are bringing computer scientists and programming specialists increasingly into contact with new and largely unfamiliar products of integrated circuit technology. This tutorial paper introduces some of the main ideas underlying the theory, fabrication, and operation of integrated circuits and shows how logically useful functions ~e derived from the balancing and unbalancing of electric charge in tiny semiconductor-based structures.
