Automatic exercise counter for outdoor exercise equipment

In this paper, we present an algorithm that can count the number of trials on outdoor exercise equipment. Using sensed data from a three axis accelerometer, the proposed algorithm can reliably measure the number of trials on four different outdoor fitness machines. The experimental results prove that the proposed algorithm is robust to any deformation of the sensor location as well as the various types exercise patterns.
