Computer resources for learning

America's most significant invention, the computer, is a powerful tool that can help improve both teaching and learning. Computer tools, along with the contributions of cognitive instructional psychology, can help bring about some of the improvements needed in our schools. This paper describes some of the ways in which computers can be important learning resources. It reviews the special contributions that computers can make to education today and discusses capabilities expected in the future. Specifically, background is presented on the classroom computers of the future-intelligent expert systems.
