The syntax of interactive command languages: A framework for design

I. Trotter Hardy · Software Practice and Experience · 1982

Abstract Various qualities of simple command languages, such as ease of use and flexibility, are defined in terms of syntax. Commands are designed for three functions to show how the design trade‐offs are made in light of the qualities and attributes discussed.
