Use of the wavelet transformation to embed signatures in images

In this paper, we describe a method of secretly embedding a signature in a multi-resolution image by means of the orthogonal wavelet transformation. In this transformation, the three components of the multi-resolution representation (MRR) provide eight possible patterns. Class 1 to 7, but not class 0, are available for our signature embedding scheme. We can embed a sequence of bits in a non-zero entry of each class, up to a maximum of about 6000 bytes in a monochrome picture of 256 × 256 pixels. The proposed scheme also allows efficient extraction of the information from an image. © 1997 Scripta Technica, Inc. Syst Comp Jpn. 28 (1): 87–94, 1997
