(1, 2) Optimal codes over GF(5)

In this paper, we examine the possibility of the existence of codes over GF(5) which are optimal in a specific sense viz. which are capable of correcting single errors in the first sub-block of length n 1 and bursts of length 2(fix) in the second sub-block of length n 2 , n=n 1+n 2 , and no others.
