This chapter covers different types of probability distributions and some one-sample tests (e.g., for testing the shape of a distribution). It also introduces concepts useful for understanding statistical proofs. Except for the section on the chi-square distribution, readers with less interest in these topics could skip reading this more technical chapter without necessarily compromising their understanding of the remaining parts of this book.
