Model driven transformation between design models to system test models using UML

Sundus Bukhari, Tabinda Waheed · 2010

Satisfying the needs of customers is of high priority in any software development life cycle (SDLC) process. Giving value added software products to the customers is based on many factors like efficient requirement engineering, or design development but the success of any software product mainly depends upon how software testing is carried out efficiently. It is the testing phase in the SDLC in which main testing activities related to system as a whole are carried out, thus much of attention is required to perform error-free software testing. The approach towards agile based software development and Model Driven Architecture (MDA) for system modeling with code generation implies the realization towards automation of test generation process. UML 2.0 Testing Profile (U2TP) proposed by OMG is an extension of UML 2.0 that support model driven testing. Integrating test development early in the SDLC helps in identifying the mistakes and errors in the stage of system design not only help software developers but also it provide benefit both in terms of cost and time reduction to all related stakeholders. This paper presents a survey and in the paper an effort is made to analyze how U2TP is adopted for Model Driven Testing by analyzing different implementation techniques. This paper presents a survey and analysis of different implementation techniques adopted using U2TP for model driven testing.
