Specification based testing

Robert M. Hierons · Software Focus · 2000

Software testing is a complex and expensive process. Therefore it is sensible to utilise any information that might help this process, whether it comes from the specification, the code, or some other source. In addition there are classes of fault, such as missing special cases, that are difficult to find by only considering the code. So how can information derived from the specification be used to help reveal faults in software? ROB HIERONS and JOHN DERRICK consider the problem in Software Testing, Verification and Reliability.
