Measuring a van Hiele Geometry Sequence: A Reanalysis

Mark R. Wilson · Journal for Research in Mathematics Education · 1990

This report summarizes a reanalysis of the data from an investigation (Usiskin, 1982) of a test designed to measure a learning sequence in geometry based on the work of van Hiele (1986). It extends the analyses that were originally conducted through the use of a probabilistic model. This model describes how performance on an item is related to the underlying ability that is the subject of the learning sequence.
